Recent Malacca Fox Hunt

THis is from the Musang...

" Hi fellow hunters ...

The recent Malacca Fox Hunt held at "Taman Rekreasi Ayer Keroh, Malacca" was a great success!
Congratulations to the Malacca organisers, helpers and participants in making this event a reality.

To make it more exciting, new items were introduced into the local (Malacca) scene.
Like ...
1. Linear Run direction ... The "Start" and "Finish" no longer be at the same place.
2. Electronic Tagging ... Trial run using electronic tagging so that we can find out the time of arrival at each beacon.
3. Homing beacon ... This beacon transmits on separate frequency to guide hunters to the "Finish" line.
4. Staggered batch release at "Start" point.
5. Horizontal polarisation ... Use of Turnstile antennas.

Even with these introductions, we are still far from the international ARDF expectations BUT we are getting there.
We need to share our know-how, in order to further improve ARDF activities in the local scene and introduce it to
the others. ( Hope hams know how to communicate! )

Penang ARDF Event - Completed

The event has successfully completed. I was assign to be the Fox No.5 or MO5. It has been a good event eventhough only small participant but it is a quite tough to find all the fox. What's important is the friendship that has build among the crew n participant n more knowledges has been shared.

The event started at around 8.30 with the registration of participant. we the foxes we sent away earlier to our fox den n prepared the fox. i was located in the botanical garden. It as a tricky place as hunter passing by but still cant located the fox. However that place will never be a fox den again. as hunter already knew about it. in the future event new den will be choose.

Later the event finish at around 12.00p.m. with all the foxes n hunter gather at the finish line. Then I parted with the other event crew n join the foxes for a lunch. The other crew n participant went to McD fur their lunch as I n the V60 Foxes went to have our nasi n kari ikan bawal. Tok Penghulu V60 also went to pick up our Beloved elmer Pak Eshee to join us at the lunch. Thank you Pak Eshee for joining us. After had a good lunch n a good lough we then parted at around 2.00pm to our home.

Thats all from me,

My Fox Hunting Weapon

3 element yagi (the popular tape measurement yagi)
vhf handy talkie
attenuator

My First Fox Hunt..

Penang ARDF Fox Hunt which held on 10 August 2008 was my first participation in 'Fox Hunting'. It was a very good experiance. Armed my self with 3 element tape measurement Yagi, an attenuator, 2 handy, a bottle of mineral water and sweats.. hehehe. There were 7 hunters that hunting that day. 5 of them from Perak Amatuer Radio Transmitter Society (PARTS) and another Penangites that is SWL Jeffri ( soon to be 9W2WOC) hehehe... detail report on the event can be view from MyARDFSport.com

As being a beginner... i manage to finish the hunt in time. However, for first time it was a quite hard to find the foxes... Running at all direction as all 3 foxes start to transmit their signal. The first Fox i manage to find was just next to me. The signal was strong even my handy that i remove the antenna also can recieve the signal. After looking around back and forth.. finally i found the first FOX.

Again looking for the second fox also very tricky. The signal coming very strong even after the attenuator is put at the max. After going through the bushes, go down the cliff even the small river.. still can't find it... later after walk abit then saw the 2nd FOX behind the tree

Finally go to the next fox. this 1 also tricky. But manage to located it after awhile just before the time is up. It was a very fun n exhausting. I will surely join for another Amatuer Radio Direction Finding - FOX Hunting...
